My four-year-old nephew Miguel has a video blogE set this one up some time ago so we can share some videos and photos we have of him.

Here are some quick facts about Migmig:

  • He was born on January 19, 2003 in Angeles City.
  • He loves to eat vegetables.
  • He has long, curly hair so people often mistake him for a girl.
  • He loves to watch Heroes.  His current favorite is Hiro Nakamura.
  • He claims to have a girlfriend in pre-school named Genevieve.
  • He’s a lolo and lola’s boy and a tita’s boy too. :)

Know more about him here.

A former colleague is promoting their new restaurant. It’s called Aroma’s, located at 87 Maria Clara St., near the National Orthopedic Hospital. They serve Spanish and Continental cuisine. I haven’t been there but I’m looking forward to dine there sometime. I’m partial to Japanese food though (yum!).

Another former colleague has also moved on to culinary arts and is planning to put up a restaurant in the States.

I just wish I also have enough capital to put up my own business. Maybe, some day I could have my own little San Diego restaurant.

We’ve been running traffic stories for the past few days because there aren’t enough stories to air at 12 noon. Christmas is just around the corner so the traffic is really bad but of course Metro Manila has the worst traffic at any season.

It really gets on my nerves when I see students in Katipunan Avenue each driving their own cars. Carpooling hasn’t really taken off in the Philippines unlike in other countries. I’ve read a recent article about carpooling in Kansas. In order to encourage carpooling in the area, the commuters are entitled to a raffle promo where they can win gift checks and even theater tickets. Cool huh?

Anyhow, I won’t have to worry much about the traffic since I don’t have a car and I just live nearby my workplace, unless of course I get to buy a used car just like these San Diego cars. It would probably take me more than a few years in my job now to be able buy one.

This sembreak, I’ve been reading Arthur Golden’s Memoirs of a Geisha. The writing is very simple, sometimes resembling a fairy tale. Sayuri is the Japanese Cinderella, Hatsumomo is like her evil stepsister and Mameha her fairy godmother. Other characters include the Chairman, Sayuri’s love interest and Nobu, a former soldier who might benefit from a Toronto plastic surgery because of his massive injuries from the war.

The book follows the story of Chiyo as she transforms to the beguiling geisha Sayuri. Behind the narrative is also a cultural history of Japan.

I recommend this novel for those who want to learn more about the Japanese culture without judgement or prejudice.

Bad Day
by Daniel Powter

*Perhaps the best song over endless bottles of SMB Lights.

Where is the moment when we need it the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue sky’s faded to grey
They tell me your passion’s gone away
And I don’t need no carrying on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You’re faking a smile with the coffee to go
You tell me your life’s been way off line
You’re falling to pieces every time
And I don’t need no carrying on

Cause you had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me don’t lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don’t lie
You’re coming back down and you really don’t mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day
